Devki and Vasudev, Shri Krishna’s real parents; Yashoda and Nanda, Shri Krishna’s foster parents; Sudama, best friend of Krishna, Balarama foster brother of Krishna and Radha, Krishna’s love played an important role in Krishna Leela.
Krishna Leela says Kansa the maternal uncle of Krishna, imprisoned Devki and Vasudev because of a prophecy that said that 8th child of Devki shall kill him. Devki, gave birth to Shri Krishna in prison. When Krishna was born the locks of the prison opened and the guards fell asleep, allowing Vasudev to escape with Krishna to Gokul.
Kansa once again attempted to kill Little Krishna, with help of demoness Putana, who tried to kill baby Krishna by feeding milk through her poison-smeared nipples. However, Putana herself got killed. Little Krishna was also called as “makhan chor”, as he was very fond of butter and he stole it from neighbors and even from his own home.

We celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday as Janmashtami. Lord Krishna’s story is liked by people so much, that there have been several Books, Movies and TV serials based on story of his life. Ramanand Sagar’s TV series on Krishna became popular among the people . Krishna is loved and worshiped by all age people.
